The OVO Energy Women's Tour Finish in Daventry - 2018

The world’s top women cyclists came to Daventry District on Thursday 14 June for the 2018 OVO Energy Women’s Tour.

The Northamptonshire stage of Britain's most prestigious women's cycling race started in Rushden and travelled 145km across the County before its exciting finish in Daventry.

It was won by Coryn Riviera from Team Sunweb after she edged out world and Olympic champion Marianne Vos in an incredible sprint finish along Abbey Street in Daventry town centre.

Earlier in the race the riders had tackled two gruelling climbs of Newnham Hill. The race also visited Canons Ashby, Weedon, Everdon, Staverton, Catesby, Hellidon, Byfield, Woodford Halse, and Preston Capes in our District.

This was the fifth time Northamptonshire has hosted a stage of the OVO Energy Women’s Tour, a five-stage event on the UCI Women’s WorldTour.

Northamptonshire County Council has brought the Women’s Tour to the county every year since 2013, and worked in partnership with Daventry District Council, Everyone Active and event organisers SweetSpot on preparations for the finish in Daventry in 2018.
